Panel Discussion: Grief, Non-Judgement, Stigma and Forgiveness - April 26th
On April 26th, we were delighted to host a panel discussion on the ways in which stigma, forgiveness, acceptance and non-judgement impact our mental health, particularly in a faith context. The discussion was illuminating throughout, serving as a sturdy reminder of the value of recovery over punishment and the extent of commitment that is sometimes required to truly help those in need.
This was the second instalment of a series of panel discussions that are designed to help mental health professionals provide more sensitive and tailored care to people of faith.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Marlene Simpson-Thomas , Narinder Singh Mudhar, Priya Amlani, Aisha Khan and Hazel Sawyers for providing such a candid, considered and useful discussion. We would also like to offer our sincere thanks to Don and Denise Davis of the Wembley Friendship Centre for their exemplary hospitality and Victoria for her help with filming the event.
Borough of Sanctuary Awards - How Can We Help?
We are currently looking to help organisations with prospective applications for Place of Sanctuary Awards. These awards help certify that your organisation is actively welcoming to those seeking sanctuary (not just refugees but also people who have been displaced by other causes such as domestic violence).
As part of this process, we can not only help you with writing your application but can also help with tailoring your other programming to make sure that it is suitably inclusive for sanctuary seekers.
If you would be interested in receiving a Place of Sanctuary Award, please get in touch via mylesdolan@brentmultifaithforum.org.uk.
For further information on City of Sanctuary - the organisation which distributes the awards - please see here.
